I’m sitting in the Lufthansa lounge at JFK, awaiting our flight to Frankfurt, where we’ll connect to Dublin. Yes, this is a completely wacky way to get there, but such is the nature of the sale under which I landed these tickets.

I had to get us to JFK and back, and we fly all the way to Germant before getting to Ireland — but we’re flying business class, and the total price was about twice what it would cost us to fly coach to Newfoundland. On the whole, a pretty sweet deal, and a great excuse to spend Thanksgiving in Europe.

We’re doing the “pack light, travel light” thing again, only taking one carry-on sized bag each. I learned a lot from last year’s trip, and I can say with all certainty that my bag is a *lot* lighter than last year.

We’re excited, but tired. I hope we can get a decent night’s sleep on the plane.

More from Ireland, with pics!
