Circular Conspiracy Theory
An existential rambling.
I see stories about Ron Paul, I start to listen and think it makes sense. He’s not the Approved candidate. The media doesn’t want me to know about him. I’m not a libertarian, but he’s not a madman or an idiot, and that’s a plus.
Then I see stories about an organized effort to flood the sites I read like reddit and digg with Ron Paul stories. I realize this groundswell of support I was sensing may have simply been astroturf. I feel used.
Then I realize that the stories about the organized efforts may, in and of themselves, be a conspiracy by the big media who don’t want him recognized.
Then I think, what if I’m paranoid?
Or worse yet, a sheep.

Nah, dude, it’s totally not astroturf - it’s just a lot of excited people trying to spread the word. Ron Paul is blowin’ up the spot. Hitch up your monkey pants and hop on board
Please don’t feel that Mr. Paul’s support is astroturf. I’ve actually known about him for several years. He is a sincere man with a lot of courage to always speak his mind. He usually stands alone (as can be evidenced in the debates). He truly believes what he says and can back it up intelligently (unlike our current Pres–Can you imagine an unassisted debate between Ron Paul and Bush???) I’ve been reading his articles/opinions on sites like http://www.lewrockwell.com for years. Even back then, I believed he was the ONLY honest representative in Washinton.
Alot of people are excited and rightly so but we need to chill out a little bit with the digging b/c we’re pissing alot of people off and that doesn’t help our cause. Heck, I’m a RP supporter and I don’t want to click on diggs home page and see nothing but RP stories. It can be overwhelming and can run people off. If you see a story that’s already been posted on digg just bury it and vote for the one w/ the most diggs instead. You can’t feed the chickens by throwing their food at them. Cheers.
Make no mistake about it, I’m not considering voting for Ron Paul — I never was. My interest in him is merely curiosity and a hope above all hopes that whoever ends up on the Republican ticket isn’t a dangerous zealot. Ron Paul fits that bill. And, honestly, of the people standing on the stage during the GOP debates, he’s the one who scares me the least.
I agree with his foreign policy stand, and I’m sure I agree with his civil liberties stand, but I’m not a libertarian. I’m very sure I won’t agree with his domestic policy in terms of public works and government’s role in society. I can practically guarantee that domestic environmental policy would suffer under a Ron Paul presidency (though not near as much as it has these past 6 years). I’m not a fan of big government, mind you, but I believe we need a strong federal government with policies to protect the greater good of the union. I’m not a big “state’s rights” person, except where I see horrible failings in federal policy toward basic civil liberties (Defense of Marriage Act, anyone?)
I will probably vote for Ron Paul in the Illinois Primaries, since we don’t have closed primaries, but only because of all the candidates currently vying for the nomination, he’s the least dangerous and the most sensible.
Dear lord, save us from Rudy.
