Eye Candy
You know, I pride myself on being somewhat of an intellectual. At the very least, one who is not completely beholden to the whims of popular culture.
But — sometimes — I’m really in the mood for some Eye Candy.
I’m gonna go see 300 when it hits the screens, because I think it’s going to fulfill that need. And unlike the previous recent adventures with green screen filiming (namely, Sky Captain and Sin City), this movie actually looks like I might be entertained by it.
Sometimes, this is a win (it’s why I saw The Matrix), and sometimes it’s not (Twister, Independence Day, anyone?)
That is all. Carry on.

300 was good! By no means was it an historical documentary, but it did a great job of taping into the myth of Sparta. Great combat sequences. Definitely the sort of movie one should see in a theater.
When I got home I was looking at some reviews. I think people are having a little too much fun trying to find symbolism and parallels to the modern world. Is Bush a modern-day Leonidas fighting an illegal war against the middle east? Uh, that’s kind of a stretch. You know what.. Kaitlyn had a good point. If Bush was spearheading the phalanx against a larger army, I’d be inclined to give him a little more support than I do now.
The movie is as you say a good-looking old-fashioned hack-em-up. No greater “message” offered or required.
